Organizational Summary:
Playwrights Horizons is a writer's theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American playwrights, composers and lyricists, and to the production of their new work. Playwrights Downtown is a facility that houses Playwrights Horizons Theater School and Playwrights Rehearsal Studios.
Position Summary:
We are seeking highly organized and responsible individuals to help oversee the space and welcome guests. Ideal candidates will enjoy providing structure in a creative environment, will be comfortable greeting and communicating with people, and will be able to jump in and assist with trouble-shooting problems. This is a part-time position, and shifts typically last between 4 and 7 hours. Shifts are scheduled in response to Theater School and Rehearsal Studio needs. Must have weekday evening and weekend availability.
Responsibilities:
Provides reception needs for the spaces, including opening the spaces on time, closing the spaces, answering phones and emails, greeting and checking in guests, coordinating space bookings for clients, and routing all mail and packages
Serve as a point of contact for students, faculty and renters while on site
Manage and enter client information in database
Assist in classroom set up needs as they arise
Assist in tracking and organization of studio equipment
Perform minor maintenance duties through the space, such as emptying trash, stocking restroom supplies, changing light bulbs, etc
Respond to inquiries from clients requesting space rentals
Serves as box office for student productions and Mainstage in the Fall and Spring semesters
Direct students to proper staff members as needs arise
Coordinate with the Facilities Manager on any building needs that may arise
Work with Playwrights Downtown Administrative Director in performing some administrative tasks necessary to the running of our studios
Qualifications:
Serve as a point of contact for students, faculty and renters
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to interact with diverse populations, including undergraduate aged students and a wide variety of rental clients
Superior attention to detail
Composure and professionalism in a fast-paced work environment
Comfortable conducting business over the phone as needed
Basic computer skills are a must, and training on our scheduling software, Ungerboeck will be provided
Criminal Background Check will be required as a condition of employment
Compensation:
$21.50 per hour
