The spirited Tony-winning musical returns to Broadway as part of the production's current world tour. The expressionistic docu-rock musical explores the true-life details of Nigerian Afrobeat musician and revolutionary political figure Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, played by , who originated the role on Broadway. Directed and choreographed by Tony winner (Spring Awakening), Fela! features a book by Jones and and utilizes Kuti's own funk- and jazz-fueled music. Officially opening on July 12, the show will have a 32-performance encore run at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
