Walnut Street Theatre (WST) has revealed the lineup of productions for its 2025-2026 season. The upcoming season is the Philadelphia theatre's 217th, and its 43rd as a not-for-profit producing theatre company.

The season will kick off with Million Dollar Quartet, running September 30鈥揘ovember 2. The musical is centered around a 1956 jam session between Johnny CashJerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley, and features smash hits like 鈥淏lue Suede Shoes," 鈥淔ever," 鈥淲alk the Line," and more.

From November 18鈥揓anuary 4, 2026, WST will present A Christmas Story: The Musical. Based on the classic holiday movie, the musical follows Ralphie, a boy with a big imagination and one wish for Christmas: a Red Ryder BB Gun.

Next in the season will be the world premiere of Sherlock Holmes: The Great Detective, running January 13鈥揊eburary 15. Adapted from the stories of Sir Conan Doyle, the work tells a classic detective tale of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson as they embark on a whirlwind chase.

Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play A Delicate Balance will follow, running February 24鈥揗arch 29. The play unfolds on an otherwise uneventful night, when long-time friends arrive at the front door unannounced (and terrified) and ask to stay.

The season will close with 1776, presented April 14鈥揗ay 31 and celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence's signing in Philadelphia. In 1776, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson fight for independence against a deadlocked Continental Congress.

鈥淎s we look toward our 217th season, we鈥檙e celebrating the legends that shape our world and the art that continues to inspire,鈥 Walnut Producing Artistic Director Bernard Havard said in a statement. 鈥淲hether it鈥檚 the spirit of rock 鈥榥鈥 roll, the magic of Christmas, or the fight for independence, this season honors the moments and characters that define us.鈥
