In celebration of the upcoming International Women鈥檚 Day, Disney on Broadway will present the second annual Women鈥檚 Day on Broadway: Inspiring Changemakers at the St. James Theatre March 12. Following its launch in 2018, the free event aims to engage attendees in a day of open and honest dialogue about gender equality in the theatre industry and beyond.
This year鈥檚 event will focus on changemakers driving progress within the theatre and entertainment industry and will feature panel conversations and a variety of speakers and presentations.
Last year鈥檚 event featured guest speakers Gayle King, Tina Fey, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Nell Benjamin, Sonia Friedman, and Tina Landau. The 2019 lineup will be announced shortly. .
鈥淲e began 鈥榃omen鈥檚 Day on Broadway鈥� last year to provide a platform for women in the theatre industry to share their experiences and celebrate their accomplishments,鈥� said Anne Quart, Disney Theatrical Production鈥檚 SVP of Production and Co-Producer. 鈥淭he response to last year鈥檚 event was overwhelmingly positive, and it was clear that we needed to create a sustainable, annual event that could dive deeper into those discussions, to inform, inspire and provide actionable paths towards equality.鈥�
The St. James Theatre is home to the Disney musical Frozen.
