鈥淚 was really shocked. I really didn't expect it this year,鈥 says Gold. 鈥淚 love our show and I knew the audience was really responding to it, but eight Tony nominations was not what I woke up expecting.鈥

Lucas Hnath鈥檚 sequel to Henrik Ibsen鈥檚 A Doll鈥檚 House was nominated across the board: Best Play, Best Direction of a Play, Best Costume Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play, plus nods for all four of its actors.

鈥淭he thing I really tried to do, and the thing I鈥檓 most proud of, is working with ensembles, working with actors in that way where everybody shines,鈥 says Gold of the produciton. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the greatest acknowledgment of the work to know that people see that everyone鈥檚 doing a beautiful job in the show.鈥
