David Mamet鈥檚 new play Bitter Wheat is set to open at London鈥檚 Garrick Theatre June 19 after beginning previews June 7. The Harvey Weinstein鈥搃nspired drama, starring John Malkovich, is scheduled to play an extended run through September 21.
Malkovich (Dangerous Liaisons, Being John Malkovich) plays Barney Fein in a cast that also features Doon Mackichan as Sondra and Ioanna Kimbrook as Yung Kim Li, as well as the newly announced Alexander Arnold as Roberto, Teddy Kempner as Doctor Wald, Matthew Pidgeon as The Writer, and Zephryn Taitte as Charles Arthur Brown.

Bitter Wheat, also directed by Mamet,features set and costume design by Christopher Oram and lighting design by Neil Austin. The staging is produced by Jeffrey Richards, Steve Traxler and Smith & Brant Theatricals.
The new play imagines the relationship between two literary icons at odds with their time: 27-year-old Christopher Marlowe and rising star William Shakespeare.
