Ain't No Mo' to Extend Following Initial Closing Announcement

Ain't No Mo' ain't going anywhere for now!

In a surprise announcement at the December 15 show, playright Jordan E. Cooper announced that Ain't No Mo', which had previously announced an abrupt closing date of December 18, will instead run through December 23.

The extension comes on the heels of the #saveAINTNOMO campaign, which was kickstarted by Cooper to save the show in its final week of performances.

The campaign included numerous buy outs of whole performances from celebrities, including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Shonda Rhimes, Sara Ramirez, Tyler Perry, and Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade. Producers Lena Waithe and RuPaul also hosted special performances of the play.

When the show's early closing date was announced, Cooper posted to in part: 鈥�Ain鈥檛 No Mo鈥� needs your help. It鈥檚 a new original play that鈥檚 Black AF, which are things that make it hard to sell on Broadway. Now they鈥檝e posted an eviction notice ... But thank God Black people are immune to eviction notice.鈥� The post encouraged people to buy tickets to the show, saying, 鈥淲e鈥檝e worked hard to make it accessible with an average ticket price of $50.鈥�

The reason behind the show's sudden closure appeared to be low ticket sales given critics' positive reviews. Stevie Walker-Webb directs the production which stars Cooper, Crystal Lucas-Perry, Fedna Jacquet, March谩nt Davis, Ebony Marshall-Oliver, Shannon Matesky, Nik Alexander, Jasminn Johnson, Michael Rishawn, Kedren Spencer, Brennie Tellu, and Emma Van Lare.

Ain鈥檛 No Mo鈥� is a play that posits, in series of comedy sketches: 鈥淲hat happens if the American government offered African Americans a one-way ticket back to Africa?鈥�

The creative team features lighting designer Adam Honor茅, scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Emilio Sosa, co-sound designers Jonathan Deans and Taylor Williams, and wig designer Mia M. Neal.
