Regional News Ali Ewoldt Will Lead Barrington Stage Company's Camelot

The Massachusetts company has begun to reveal casting for its upcoming summer season.

Massachusetts' Barrington Stage Company has unveiled initial casting for its upcoming summer season, which includes runs of Camelot, fuzzyN/A, and, newly, The Weekend, a world premiere play from Ben Diskant.

Camelot will be led by Ali Ewoldt (The Phantom of the Opera) as Guenevere, Ken Wulf Clarke as King Arthur, Emmett O'Hanlon as Lancelot, Danny Kornfeld as Mordred, and Dakin Matthews as Merlin and Pellinore. Artistic Director Alan Paul is directing the revival, running June 25-July 19 and opening June 29 on the Boyd Quinson Stage. Barrington's production of the Alan Jay Lerner-Frederick Loewe musical is based on Paul's 2018 staging for Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., which also starred Clarke. Barrington is presenting the musical by special arrangement with .

Over at the company's St. Germain Stage, the new musical fuzzy will make its world premiere July 8-27, with a book and lyrics by Jeff Talbott and music and lyrics by Will Van Dyke. Opening night will be July 12. Newly announced for the show's cast are John Cariani as The Author, Cass Morgan as The Actress, and Teddy Yudain as The Puppeteer. The theatre is keeping details about the new work to a minimum, sharing in press notes that the show is "a little musical about all the big things鈥攈ow we take care of each other and, in doing so, take care of ourselves, even if you are just a little fuzzy puppet." Ellie Heyman is directing, with opening night set for July 12.

Mario Correa's N/A, inspired by the relationship between Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes and Nancy Pelosi, is making its regional premiere at the company following an Off-Broadway bow last summer. The work will play the St. Germain Stage June 2-22, with Diane Guerrero as A and Kelly Lester as N. Opening night is June 8.

The Weekend will run September 16-October 12 on the St. Germain Stage, with Paul directing. Diskant's new work follows a husband and wife trying to reconnect in their family cabin in Stockbridge, but the husband's brother can't help but butt in. Opening night will be September 21, with casting to be announced.

The upcoming season also includes Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground, with John Rubinstein reprising his performance in the title role from the Richard Hellesen play's premiere at New Los Angeles Repertory Company, performing June 3-8 and directed by Peter Ellenstein; and the regional premiere of Daniel Goldstein's Joan, centered on late comedian Joan Rivers and performing July 31-August 17. The latter opens August 3 and comes to Barrington from South Coast Repertory. David Ivers is directing. Rajiv Joseph's King James will play the St. Germain August 12-31, in a new staging directed by Rob Ruggerio, co-produced with TheaterWorks Hartford and Round House Theatre. Opening night is set for August 16.

The previously announced world premiere of May Treuhaft-Ali's The Yom Kippur Play has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts.
