
Casting has been announced for the Los Angeles premiere of Skeleton Crew, the final installment in playwright Dominique Morisseau鈥檚 The Detroit Project, a three-play cycle spanning 1949鈥�2008 that examines the racial and class divides of Detroit and the nation as a whole.
Skeleton Crew will run June 5鈥揓uly 8 at the Geffen Playhouse. An official opening has been set for June 13.
The L.A. cast will feature Amari Cheatom (Roman J. Israel, Esq.) as Dez, Caroline Stefanie Clay (叠谤辞补诲飞补测鈥檚 The Little Foxes) as Faye, Kelly McCreary (Grey鈥檚 Anatomy) as Shanita, and D.B. Woodside (Lucifer) as Reggie.
Patricia McGregor will direct.
Skeleton Crew follows four co-workers鈥擣aye, Dez, Reggie, and Shanita鈥攁t a Detroit auto factory in 2008. The play highlights the layered relationships and drama of blue-collar workers navigating the instability and uncertainty in their personal lives and at work. Patience and loyalty are tested as the plant鈥檚 future comes into question and they are forced to make hard choices to ensure their individual survival.
The Detroit Project also includes Detroit 鈥�67, set during the Detroit race riots, and the 1949-set Paradise Blue, which centers on the gentrification of the city's Black Bottom neighborhood.
The creative team includes scenic designer Rachel Meyers, costume designer ESosa, lighting designer Pablo Santiago, sound designer Everett Elton Bradman, production stage manager Ross Jackson, assistant stage manager Jade Cagalawan, and casting director Phyllis Schuringa CSA.
