Even more theatre stars will be part of the upcoming third season of Julian Fellowes' HBO period drama.

Even more theatre stars will be entering The Gilded Age during the third season of Julian Fellowes' series, which that takes place in turn-of-the-century New York and follows new money socialite Bertha Russell (played by Carrie Coon) as she navigates high society.

Newcomers to the cast, , include Bill Camp as J.P. Morgan; Merritt Wever as Bertha's estranged sister, Monica O'Brien; Tony winner Leslie Uggams as Mrs. Ernestine Brown; Lisagay Hamilton as Black suffragist Ellen Watkins Harper; Tony winner Andrea Martin as a medium named Madame Dashkova; Paul Alexander Nolan as New York businessman Alfred Merrick; Hattie Morgan as Lady Sarah Vere, who is sister of the Duke of Buckingham; and Jessica Frances Dukes as Athena Trumbo, a first cousin to Dorothy, the role played by Audra McDonald.

This is the official synopsis for season three: "With the old guard officially deposed, New York society finds itself turned upside down, and all must get their house in order. But even those at the helm of this new era may find that change comes at a cost."

It was previously reported that the third season would also feature other new arrivals: Tony winner Phylicia Rashad and Tony nominee Jordan Donica in recurring roles, plus Tony winners Brian Stokes Mitchell and Victoria Clark in guest-starring roles.

The season two cast included Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Den茅e Benton, Ben Ahlers, Michael Cerveris, Kelley Curran, Taissa Farmiga, Jack Gilpin, Simon Jones, Sullivan Jones, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Debra Monk, Donna Murphy, Kristine Nielsen, Kelli O鈥橦ara, Patrick Page, Harry Richardson, Taylor Richardson, Blake Ritson, Douglas Sills, Erin Wilhelmi, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, John Douglas Thompson, Ashlie Atkinson, Laura Benanti, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Christopher Denham, David Furr, Ward Horton, Matilda Lawler, and Robert Sean Leonard

Season two followed the , and with it, the modern Theatre District.

Created, written, and executive-produced by Fellowes, the creative and producing team also includes writer and executive producer Sonja Warfield, executive producer Gareth Neame, executive producer David Crockett, director and executive producer Michael Engler, director and executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield, executive producer Bob Greenblatt, and historical consultant and co-executive producer Erica Dunbar.

Casting for the series is by Bernie Telsey and Adam Caldwell from the Telsey Office.

The Gilded Age is a co-production between HBO and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

A premiere date for the new season has yet to be announced, though it will air sometime in 2025.
