Three-time Golden Globe nominee Antonio Banderas visited Live With Kelly & Ryan April 18 and revealed that he has a new theatrical project in the works.
Banderas made his Broadway debut as Guido Contini in the 2003 revival of Nine, a time he calls 鈥渕y happiest time in America as a professional.鈥
The actor won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical and was nominated for a Tony Award. He also earned a 1997 Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Ch茅 in the movie musical adaptation of Evita. When asked if he would return to Broadway, Banderas replied: 鈥淚 think I am going to, actually. In a very strange way. I bought a theatre in my hometown in M谩laga.鈥
Banderas says the theatre has two spaces, including a 260-seat theatre for children鈥檚 theatre and new voices. But he plans to put the space to personal use, too. 鈥淚 am in the middle of a deal with a very strong producer here on Broadway to do the previews in M谩laga and then to bring the play here,鈥 he said.
