The Tony-nominated show is set to make its Australian premiere at Adelaide's Festival Theatre Jan. 8, 2016, before touring the country. It will play Melbourne in February and Sydney in March. Ghost follows the supernatural love story between a couple; when Sam is unexpectedly killed, the help of a psychic allows him to protect Molly from further danger.
Ghost The Musical, adapted from the movie of the same name with Swayze, and , played the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway in 2012. The show features a book by (the film's screenwriter), lyrics by Rubin, (from the Eurythmics) and and music by Stewart and Ballard. The Broadway production starred , and , who was Tony-nominated for her performance as the psychic.
The musical premiered in Manchester in the U.K. before transferring to the West End and, later, the Great White Way. It received acclaim for its use of special effects in depicting the supernatural, such as making Sam appear like he was walking through doors and flying objects.
