Murray played the cranky weatherman stuck reliving the forecast holiday in Punxsatawney, Pennsylvania in the 1993 film. The actor attended the show with original screenwriter (and the musical鈥檚 book writer) Danny Rubin and his brother, Brian Doyle-Murray, who played Buster in the film.
Murray, Doyle-Murray, and Rubin visited the cast backstage after the show. He told actor Sean Montgomery, who plays the Sheriff, 鈥淚t was really beautiful. You got me. You really got me.鈥�
Turning his attention to the full cast he said, 鈥淎s actors, I can鈥檛 respect enough how disciplined you are and how serving you are of the process. There鈥檚 nothing worse than seeing someone that鈥檚 out for themselves. And you are all in it for each other.鈥�
