This is Uranowitz's first Tony win, and fourth Tony nomination. Uranowitz's other Broadway credits include An American in Paris, Falsettos, The Band's Visit, and Burn This.
Speaking to 半岛体育 in an earlier interview, he said Leopoldstadt is the most personal play he's ever done: "There's something about the marriage of both myself as a person and myself as an artist on display here that has made me feel whole in a way that I haven't felt quite so fervently as an actor before, and as a person."
In his Tony acceptance speech, Uranowitz shouted out his fellow nominee Jordan E. Cooper, saying, "Jordan, your performance in Ain鈥檛 No Mo' broke me open!鈥 He ended his speech with an entreaty for parents across America: 鈥淲hen your child tells you who they are, believe them" because 鈥渁n authentic life is a limitless life.鈥
