News Brexit Causes Budget Woes for U.K. Show at NYMF Following a drop in the pound鈥檚 value, Forest Boy is now short 拢10,000.

According to U.K.鈥檚 , Forest Boy, a British production set to play the New York Musical Festival later this month, is experiencing budget troubles following a drop in the pound caused by Brexit.

Creators Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie told The Stage that they had needed to raise 拢42,000 to mount the production in the U.S., which they had done prior to Britain鈥檚 decision to leave the EU. The subsequent drop in the pound鈥檚 value meant a 拢10,000 loss.

鈥淚t鈥檚 systematically getting worse, as we are still waiting for money to come through and the pound is just falling and falling,鈥 Gilmour told The Stage. The team is now looking for American funding to try and make up the difference, and is forging ahead with a smaller budget.

Forest Boy is based on a true story, about a boy who mysteriously appeared in Berlin and claimed to have lived in a forest with his father for five years. The show is set to play at NYMF in the Pearl Theatre July 27-August 2.

鈥淗e had no memory of his past 鈥 only that his name was Ray and he travelled to Berlin following the death of his father in the woods,鈥 state production notes. 鈥淲hat followed were nine months of speculation, police inquiry, and a global media frenzy, as the mystery of the Forest Boy slowly unravelled. 鈥 For more information visit
