A developmental lab of the Broadway-aimed Michael Jackson musical will take place September 24鈥揙ctober 21, according to an Equity casting notice.
Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph the show, inspired by the life of the pop star. The musical will incorporate Jackson鈥檚 myriad hits with a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. The casting notice includes breakdowns for both a Michael in his 20s鈥�30s as well as a younger, Jackson 5-era Michael.
The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage announced the project鈥攁s well as a slated 2020 Broadway bow鈥攅arlier this month. No word yet on any other engagements, including any out-of-town tryout.
