The donation will help the food bank provide meals, fresh water, and personal hygiene supplies to thousands of survivors.

Broadway Cares has sent a $50,000 emergency grant in the name of the Broadway community to the Maui Food Bank in Hawaii to assist in relief for those suffering from the cataclysmic wildfires that destroyed the coastal town of Lahaina on the island of Maui.

This emergency grant will help the food bank provide meals, fresh water, and personal hygiene supplies to thousands of the wildfire survivors.

鈥淭o those in Lahaina and on the island of Maui, all of us in the theatre community鈥攐nstage, backstage, and in the audience鈥攚ant you to know you are not alone,鈥 Tom Viola, executive director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, stated. 鈥淲hile a single grant cannot replace all that鈥檚 been tragically lost in this historic fire, we know that we can make a difference on the ground, in the Lahaina and Maui communities by offering solace, meals, and assistance to those left so bereft by this catastrophe.鈥

鈥淚t is beyond sad, and the devastation is surrealistic,鈥 Maui Food Bank Development Director Marlene Rice added. 鈥淭he heartbreaking stories of people who have lost everything, including family members, continue to grow. Thank you for your love and generosity for Lahaina and Maui. We appreciate you all more than you know.鈥

The Maui Food Bank has been a part of Broadway Cares鈥 National Grants Program since 2019. For more information and to donate, visit .
