News Broadway Revival of Long Day's Journey Pushes Back Opening The Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning Long Day's Journey Into Night, which will be produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company, in association with Ryan Murphy, has rescheduled its opening night.

Directed by , the production, part of Roundabout's 50th anniversary season, had originally announced an April 19 opening. It will now bow on April 27, making it the final opening of the 2015-2016 season.

Previews are still scheduled to being March 31, 2016, at the American Airlines Theatre. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through June 26.

As previously reported, two鈥恡ime Academy Award winner and three鈥恡ime Emmy Award winner will play Mary Tyrone, following her Olivier Award鈥恘ominated performance in the role on the West End in 2000. Two-time Globe winner and Tony Award nominee will play James Tyrone, Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. will play Edmund Tyrone, and Oscar nominee will play James Tyrone Jr.

The design team will be announced shortly.

Long Day鈥檚 Journey Into Night, according to press notes, "is the tale of an ordinary summer鈥檚 day with extraordinary consequences. Drawing so heavily from the author鈥檚 personal history that it could only be produced posthumously, the story of the Tyrone family and their battle to unearth鈥攁nd conceal鈥攁 lifetime of secrets continues to reveal itself to audiences as one of the most profound and powerful plays ever brought to the stage." Lange has appeared twice previously on Broadway, both times in revivals of Tennessee Williams classics: A Streetcar Named Desire in 1992 and The Glass Menagerie in 2005. She won her Oscars for "Tootsie" and "Blue Sky." Shannon earned his Oscar nomination for "Revolutionary Road," and appeared on Broadway in .

Roundabout's history with O'Neill dates back to 1983 with John Stix鈥檚 production of Ah, Wilderness, starring ; followed by Desire Under the Elms, directed by Terry Schreiber (1984); the Tony Award鈥恮inning revival of , directed by , starring , and Anne Meara (1993); and , directed by , starring Gabriel Byrne (2005).

The most recent Broadway revival of Long Day's Journey was presented at the Plymouth (now Schoenfeld) Theatre in 2003 and starred , , and .
