Broadway鈥檚 cult classics鈥攕hows that attracted a relatively small but utterly devoted following鈥攚ill be showcased in New York City September 30 by a group of emerging talents at Feinstein鈥檚/54 Below cabaret.
The 11:30 PM concert will highlight songs that reflect 鈥渢hemes of activism, identity, and propaganda.鈥� Proceeds will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union.
Bruce Baumer will serve as host and musical director of the evening, which will feature songs from Side Show, Carrie, The Rocky Horror Show, Heathers, Urinetown, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and other 鈥渦nder-appreciated鈥澛爏hows.

An Evening of Cult Classics to Benefit the ACLU will feature performances by MJ Rodriguez (A.R.T.鈥檚 Burn All Night), Kris Roberts (Beautiful), Robert Zelaya (Kinky Boots tour), Theresa Burns (My Big Gay Italian Wedding), Jessica Hanson (Reefer Madness), Yamuna Meleth, Darrell Purcell, Jr., Kabir Bery, Stephanie Lourenco Viegas, Tripp Fountain, and Amalia Tollas.
Burns, who will direct and perform, said, 鈥淭he ACLU has had their hands full since January. When horrifying legislation is passed or tweeted, the ACLU immediately jumps in to defend those affected. They are fighting like crazy and we want to help. Now, we are not lawyers, but we are huge theatre nerds and performers who love cult musicals. So, come have a few drinks with us and help us help the ACLU.鈥�
Jessica Hanson will also be Burns鈥� associate director. The evening is being produced by Brian Scanlan.
