Casting has been announced for Astoria Performing Arts Center鈥檚 upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman鈥檚 Follies, which will run May 3鈥�26 at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Astoria, Queens.
The 1971 musical about a group of former follies performers who reunite at their soon-to-be-demolished theatre for one last look at the past will mark APAC鈥檚 final production at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, which has been home to the IT Award-winning company for the last 10 years. A new performance space is expected to be announced later this summer.
The cast includes APAC veterans Marcie Henderson (Raisin, Allegro) and Greg Horton (Raisin, Merrily We Roll Along) as Phyllis and Buddy, with Tina Stafford (Once national tour) and Bruce Sabath (Company on Broadway) as Sally and Ben.
The cast will also feature Andrea Dotto, Denali Bennett, LaDonna Burns, Denise DeMars, Tia DeShazor, Susan Cohen DeStefano, Christine Donnelly, Dan Entriken, Jonathan Fluck, Spencer Hansen, James Harter, Kathleen LaMagna, Andrea McCullough, Shara茅 Moultrie, Ben Northrup, Rusty Riegelman, Nicole Paloma Sarro, Carolyn Seiff, Cliff Sellers, Lauren Alice Smith, Noah M. Virgile, and Mandarin Wu.
Artistic director Dev Bondarin directs. The creative team also includes Sara Brians (choreographer), James Higgins (music director), Ann Beyersdorfer (scenic designer), Jennifer Jacob (costume designer), Annie Wiegand (lighting designer), Caroline Eng (sound designer), Andrew Short (props designer), and Jessica McIlquham (production stage manager). Casting is by Jason Styres, CSA.
Sondheim鈥檚 Tony Award-winning score features 鈥淚'm Still Here,鈥� 鈥淏roadway Baby,鈥� 鈥淟osing My Mind,鈥� 鈥淭he Right Girl,鈥� and 鈥淭oo Many Mornings.鈥� directed the lavish 1971 original. was last revived on Broadway in 2011.
