Best known as a country music singer-songwriter, Parton composed the score for the Broadway musical , based on the acclaimed film of the same name. The two-hour film, which is set in Tennessee's Great Smokey Mountains in 1955, is "based on the inspiring true story of living legend Dolly Parton鈥檚 remarkable upbringing. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith, and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today."
The cast will include as Parton鈥檚 mother, Avie Lee Parton; as Grandpa Jake Owens; Ricky Schroder as Dolly鈥檚 father, Lee Parton; and Alyvia Alyn as nine-year-old Dolly Parton.
