Bright Lights, Big City, the rock musical adaptation of Jay McInerney鈥檚 novel set within New York City鈥檚 culture of excess in the early 1980s, will receive a concert presentation at Feinstein鈥檚/54 Below February 4, 2019, at 7 PM and 9 PM.
The musical by Scottish composer-lyricist Paul Scott Goodman premiered Off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in 1999.
Nick Blaemire (Glory Days, tick, tick鈥OOM) will lead the cast as Jaime, a dissolute fact-checker for a New Yorker-like magazine who plummets through a world of nightclubs, bars, models, and cocaine. Patrick Wilson created the role in the musical鈥檚 Off-Broadway premiere and preserved his performance in a 2004 Sh-K-Boom Records studio album.
The concert will also feature Anastasia鈥檚 Christy Altomare as Vicky, Isaac Powell (Once On This Island) as Michael, Annie Golden (Netflix鈥檚 Orange is the New Black) as Clara, and Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party) as Mom. Additional casting will be announced.
The concert will be directed by Alex Tobey, music directed by Ben Caplan and produced by Jen Sandler.
