Off-Broadway News Clubbed Thumb's Deep Blue Sound Opens Encore Run at The Public March 6

Tony winner and The Notebook star Maryann Plunkett is reprising her Obie-winning performance from the play's 2023 run.

An Off-Broadway return engagement of Clubbed Thumb's Deep Blue Sound officially opens at The Public Theater's Shiva Theater March 6 after beginning previews February 25. The limited run of the Abe Koogler play will continue through March 29. Arin Arbus is directing.

Original cast members Tony winner Maryann Plunkett (The Notebook), Armando Riesco, Crystal Finn, and Jan Leslie Harding are reprising their performances as Ella, Chris, Mayor Annie, and Les, respectively; they are joined by Mia Katigbak as Joy Mead, Ryan King as Gary, Miriam Silverman as Mary, Arnie Burton as John, and Carmen Zilles as Ali. Plunkett won an Obie for her performance in the work's 2023 run.

Set on an island in the Pacific Northwest, the work centers on a community gathering called following the disappearance of a local pod of orca whales.

The production features scenic design by dots, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman. Kristy Bodall is production stage manager.
