News Come from Away, Musical About Travelers Stranded on 9/11, Opens in Seattle Come from Away, the new rock musical that explores the lasting connection forged between a group of travelers whose planes were diverted to a small Newfoundland town on Sept. 11, 2001, officially opens Nov. 18 at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.

Come from Away arrives in Seattle after a world-premiere staging at the last summer. Previews began Nov. 13. Performances are scheduled through Dec. 13.

The musical features book, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein (My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding).

directs a cast that includes (, ) as Beverly, Tony Award nominee (, ) as Colin 1, (, ) as Claude, (, ) as Bob, (, Carmen) as Colin 2, Q Smith () as Lana, (Les Miserables, ) as Diane, Petrina Bromley (Oil and Water) as Bonnie, Lee MacDougall (Urinetown) as Nick, Astrid Van Wieren (Colony of Unrequited Dreams, Mamma Mia!) as Beulah, Eric Ankrim (Miss Saigon) as Oz, Kendra Kassebaum (Leap of Faith) as Janice and understudies Chelsea LeValley and Frederick Hagreen.

Here's how it's billed: "Come from Away is based on an inspiring true story. September 11, 2001 was an ordinary day in isolated Gander, Newfoundland鈥攗ntil it wasn't. Thirty-eight planes were diverted to its doorstep on that fateful day, making this small town unexpected hosts to an international community. The camaraderie that followed reminds us of the power that comes from opening up your heart and your home."
