Comic Gary Gulman, seen in his HBO specials The Great Depresh and Born on 3rd Base as well as on Hulu鈥檚 Life & Beth, officially opens in his Off-Broadway debut January 19 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
Tony nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand To God, I Need That) directs the world premiere of Gulman's new solo show, Grandiloquent, which began previews January 7 and will continue for a limited engagement through February 8.
"Grandiloquent is the show I got into comedy to do,鈥 said
Gulman in an earlier statement. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the culmination of 48 years of my reading
and writing and performing. I am so grateful to be able to bring it to
the venerable Lucille Lortel Theatre, where I鈥檝e seen so much
extraordinary work."
The new show, press notes state, concerns "insecurity, empathy, self-acceptance, and how a thoughtful boy learned to use humor, reading, and writing to cope with the consequences of his parents鈥 blunders."
The production also features scenic design by Tony winner Beowulf Boritt, lighting design by Adam Honor茅, and sound design by UptownWorks.
Grandiloquent is produced by Mike and Carlee Productions, AGI Entertainment鈥檚 Brian Stern, and Michael Bonfiglio and co-produced by Nelson & Tao, Nathan Mardis, and the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
