With a book and lyrics by and Robin Miller, music by and musical direction by , Dames at Sea will be directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award nominee .

Design team, casting, production dates and Broadway theatre will be announced at a later date.

鈥淭his is a quintessential American musical with an amazingly tuneful score and a really clever book, and this Dames will have more dancing than ever before,鈥 said director/choreographer Skinner in a statement. 鈥淔or the first time in New York, Dames will be heard with a fully orchestrated score.鈥

鈥淩andy鈥檚 vision for this first ever Broadway production of Dames at Sea remains true to the original concept of the show, but will raise the bar much higher for our cast,鈥 added producer Anna Roberts Ostroff. 鈥淲e are currently looking for just the right house for this very special show.鈥

Dames at Sea opened Off-Broadway at the Bouwerie Lane Theatre Dec. 20, 1968, to enthusiastic reviews and quickly transferred to the Theater de Lys on April 22, 1969, where it went on to run for 575 performances. The production starred a young Bernadette Peters as Ruby. The musical successfully crossed the Atlantic twice to play the West End鈥檚 Duchess Theatre in 1969 and again in 1989 to play the West End鈥檚 Haymarket Theatre. Dames at Sea is described as a "tap-happy, navy-crazy celebration of the golden era of movie musicals with a heart as big as the ocean! Ruby steps off a bus from Utah and into her first Broadway show, but hours before the opening night curtain is to rise, the cast learns their theater is being demolished. Ruby and the cast, with the help of some adoring sailors, set a plan in motion to perform the show on a naval battleship. Featuring rollicking tap dancing, love at first sight, joyful music and a boatload of laughs, this glittering musical extravaganza has everything you need to sweep your glooms away."
