U.K. stage alums Declan Bennett and Tony nominee Samuel Barnett have been tapped to lead a new production of Kiss of the Spider Woman. As previously announced, the Manuel Puig play, featuring a new adapted script from Allan Baker and Jos茅 Rivera, will run March 8 through May 5 at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
The Laurie Sandom-helmed production will officially open March 21.
Set in a Buenos Aires prison, Kiss of the Spider Woman follows the relationship of two inmates who share a cell: a revolutionary and a window dresser, who dreams a fantasy world involving his favorite horror diva. The play, based on Puig鈥檚 novel of the same name, premiered in London in 1985. A musical adaptation premiered in the West End in 1992, with its three headliners (, Brent Carver, and Anthony Crivello) later reprising their performances on Broadway and earning Tony Awards.
Winners were named at an April 6 ceremony, with Beverly Knight and Billy Porter hosting.
Captured live at London鈥檚 Vaudeville Theatre, the Universal Pictures film features the original London Queens.
Jonathan Church directs the revival of Robert Bolt's Tony-winning drama.
Nick Winston directs and choreographs the new musical at the Southwark Playhouse Elephant.
The Broadway musical adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel will play the London Coliseum.
The 2026 staging, marking the first production of Sheen鈥檚 Welsh National Theatre, is co-produced with London's Rose Theatre.
