News Gin Game, With James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson, Pushes Back Broadway Start Dates Tony Award winners James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson will co-star in a Broadway revival of D.L. Coburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Gin Game, which will begin previews Sept. 23 at the Golden Theatre, five days later than previously scheduled.

Directed by , the production will officially open Oct. 14, a day later than previously scheduled. The limited run is scheduled through Jan. 10, 2016. Rehearsals begin Aug. 17.

Changes were made so Tyson can attend the 67th Annual Emmy Awards Sept. 20 in Los Angeles, where she is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for ABC鈥檚 鈥淗ow to Get Away with Murder.鈥� Tyson will also be a 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree Dec. 6 in Washington DC.

Tyson and Jones will be sharing a Broadway stage for the first time since 1966, when they appeared in at the Longacre Theatre. They also starred in the long-running Off-Broadway production of 鈥檚 The Blacks.

"Weller Martin (James Earl Jones) and Fonsia Dorsey (Cicely Tyson) meet on the porch of their nursing home and strike up a friendship, with Weller teaching Fonsia how to play gin rummy," according to press notes. "As they play, they share stories about the lives they led in the outside world. But when Fonsia wins every hand, Weller becomes increasingly frustrated, until their gin games and conversations become a battleground, with each player exposing the other鈥檚 failures, disappointments and insecurities."

Tyson is a Tony Award winner (), a three-time Emmy Award winner (鈥淭he Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman,鈥� 鈥淭he Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All鈥�) and an Oscar nominee ("Sounder"). Jones is a two-time Tony Award winner (, ), three-time Emmy Award winner (鈥淗eat Wave,鈥� 鈥淕abriel鈥檚 Fire,鈥� 鈥淪ummer鈥檚 End鈥�) and the recipient of a Grammy Award and an Honorary Oscar.

The Broadway revival will be produced by OSTAR Productions.
