James T. Lane, recently seen as Billy Flynn in Broadway鈥檚 Chicago, brings his autobiographical solo show, Triple Threat, to Theatre Row during Pride month.
Directed by Kenny Ingram (Emojiland), the production officially opens June 23 following previews that began June 17. The limited engagement is currently scheduled to continue through July 30.
Written and performed by Lane, Triple Threat recounts the actor鈥檚 redemptive journey, from his against-all-odds entertainment rise to near-death cataclysmic fall and his subsequent return. His Broadway credits also include Kiss Me, Kate; King Kong; The Scottsboro Boys; and A Chorus Line.
Lane conceived the show following a commission by The Young Vic in 2015. The actor, who was performing in The Scottsboro Boys in London鈥檚 West End at the time, crafted the project under the guidance of Artistic Director David Lan and producer Ben Cooper. Six years later, Triple Threat made its world premiere at The Zeiders American Dream Theatre.
The New York premiere also has set design by Teresa L. Williams, sound design by DJ Potts, lighting design by Emmanuel Delgado, and video design by T鈥檌j D鈥檕yen. Rachel Elder is the production stage manager.
Show times are Thursday-Sunday at 7 PM. Brendan Gaul and Brett Henenberg produce.
