Sharon Playhouse's 2015 season will feature the musicals My Fair Lady, Merrily We Roll Along and Little Shop of Horrors, as well as 's new play Georgie: The Life and Death of George Ross and True Love.
The season will kick off with My Fair Lady, set to run June 18-July 5. The musical is based on 鈥檚 comedy Pygmalion and features book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, with music by . Richard Stafford (In My Life) will direct with choreography and music direction by Fiona Santos. The show will star (The Royal Family), Lee Harrington (Into the Woods) and (The Phantom of the Opera).
Merrily We Roll Along will follow, with a cast led by Tam, (La Cage aux Folles) and Lauren Marcus (They're Playing Our Song). Performances are scheduled for July 15-19, and John Simpkins is set to direct with music direction by Eric Kang. The musical features a book by and score by . It includes some of Sondheim's best-known songs, such as "Good Thing Going," "Not a Day Goes By" and "Old Friends." Tam, who featured on Broadway in If/Then, also starred in the Keen Company's Off-Broadway revival of Marry Me a Little.
Little Shop of Horrors, the popular 1950's-set comedy musical about a murderous plant, will play Aug. 13-30, directed by Casey Husion (Nerds) and starring Rob Morrison ().
In its Bok Gallery space, the Sharon Playhouse will also present a developmental workshop of Ed Dixon's new play Georgie: The Life and Death of George Ross, starring Dixon and directed by John Simpkins; as well as True Love with book by Sarah Schlesinger and David Evans, music by Evans and lyrics by Schlesinger. The cast features (Sister Act), Nick Gaswirth (A Christmas Story), Jane Bruce (Elf) and Max Sheldon. Georgie is scheduled for performances in May and True Love in August.
