Academy Award-winning composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz will host 40th anniversary concert presentations of his 1978 musical Working August 12 at Feinstein鈥檚/54 Below.
The 7 PM and 9:30 PM concerts will feature Loni Ackerman (Evita, Cats), Major Attaway (Aladdin), Marie France Arcilla (Working, Jesus Christ Superstar), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Phantom of the Opera, On The Town), Mary Callanan (The Bridges of Madison County, Bandstand), Carolee Carmello (Parade, The Addams Family), Felipe Joglar Perez (Merrily We Roll Along, Beauty and the Beast), Ann Harada (Avenue Q, Cinderella), Marc Kudisch (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Assassins), Javier Mu帽oz (Hamilton, In The Heights), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Working, Pippin), and Gerry Vichi (Something Rotten, Curtains).
The concert also features Jimmy Brewer, Scott Fuss, Michael Hajjar, Morgan Hecker, Whitney Hayes, Trey McCoy, Jenna Najjar, Kiani Nelson, Paris Alexander Nesbitt, Jeffrey Nunez, Samantha Sayah, Christian Strange, and Becca Suskauer.
The concerts are produced and directed by Robert W. Schneider, with musical direction by Kevin David Thomas. The associate producer is Benjamin Nissen.
Based on Studs Terkel鈥檚 book Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day And How They Feel About What They Do, the musical Working played a brief Broadway run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 1978. Featuring a score by Susan Birkenhead, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers, Schwartz, and James Taylor, the musical was nominated for six Tony Awards. A 2009 revival included contributions by Hamilton and In the Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
