Off-Broadway News Jordan Harrison鈥檚 The Amateurs Opens at the Vineyard The new play by the Marjorie Prime playwright examines the intersection of creativity, art, and crisis.

The Vineyard Theater celebrates the opening of Jordan Harrison鈥檚 The Amateurs鈥�a new play about a rag-tag group of pageant players attempting to outrun the Black Death in 14th-century Europe鈥擣ebruary 27. The new comedy-drama from the Pulitzer Prize finalist examines the intersection of creativity, art, and crisis.

The world-premiere production is directed by Oliver Butler. Performances began February 8 and are scheduled through March 18.

The cast is made up of Kyle Beltran (Gloria), Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Ruined), Michael Cyril Creighton (Stage Kiss), Greg Keller (Somewhere Fun), Jennifer Kim (Gloria), and Thomas Jay Ryan (The Crucible).

The Amateurs features scenic design by David Zinn (SpongeBob SquarePants), costume design by Jessica Pabst (Marvin's Room), lighting design by Jen Schriever (Eclipsed), and sound design by Bray Poor (Latin History for Morons).

The Amateurs was commissioned by South Coast Repertory and received a staged reading as part of the Goodman Theatre鈥檚 New Stages Festival. In addition to Marjorie Prime, Harrison鈥檚 other works include Maple and Vine, The Grown-Up, Doris to Darlene, and Amazons and Their Men.
