Keeping Company With Sondheim, a new documentary exploring the legacy of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth鈥檚 musical Company, will premiere May 27 at 9 PM ET on PBS; check local listings.
Filmed over two years, the documentary is part of Great Performances' fifth 鈥淏roadway鈥檚 Best鈥� lineup and offers an inside look at Tony-winning director Marianne Elliott鈥檚 creative process of bringing the reimagined, gender-swapped production to Broadway during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The telecast will feature rehearsal and performance footage plus new interviews with director Elliott, Tony-winning co-stars Katrina Lenk and Patti LuPone, the late Sondheim, and members of the original 1970 cast.
Great Performances: Keeping Company With Sondheim is directed by Andrew Douglas and produced by David Sabel. The associate producer is Brook Crowley, with Martin Rosenbaum and Adam Low as executive producers. For Great Performances, Bill O鈥橠onnell is series producer, and David Horn is executive producer.
