News Kenneth Branagh's Gritty, Immersive Macbeth Will Be Filmed By Martin Scorsese Kenneth Branagh's acclaimed immersive production of Macbeth will be filmed by Martin Scorsese, the Daily Mail reports.

Following its original production at Manchester International Festival, Branagh's staging of the Scottish tragedy was presented in New York at the Park Avenue Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall in June 2014.

The Daily Mail reports that Scorsese hopes to film a documentary about Branagh's production by reuniting the original cast and filming performances over the course of a few weeks at Leavesden in Hertfordshire.

The dark, gritty production focused on the elements of nature, including fire, water and dirt and staged several violent battles.

An Academy Award winner, Scorsese has directed "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Gangs of New York," "Taxi Driver" and "Mean Streets," among others.

Directed by Branagh and Tony winner (, ), the New York production featured five-time Academy Award nominee Branagh ("Hamlet," "My Week h Marilyn") as the ambitious Thane of Cawdor and Alex Kingston ("Doctor Who," "Arrow") as Lady Macbeth. .

The New York cast also included Richard Coyle (Proof, ) as Macduff; (Merry Wives of Windsor, ) as Lady Macduff; Tom Godwin (The Taming of the Shrew, Globe) as Porter; (Henry V, West End) as Lennox; Dylan Clark Marshall ("Revolutionary Road"); (Wit, ); and Kate Tydman (Kiss Me, Kate; Old Vic) as a Swing.

The creative team for Macbeth included set and costume designer , lighting designer and sound designer . The production featured compositions by Patrick Doyle. Terry King was fight director, Carol Hemming was hair and make-up consultant, was illusion consultant, Lee Newby was associate designer, and Chris Bailey was associate choreographer. Rupert Cross was music programmer, Russell Jackson was text advisor, and Anne McNulty was casting director. Additional New York casting is by Telsey + Company.
