The BBC2 screen adaptation of Mike Bartlett鈥檚 King Charles III is among the nominees for the 2018 Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAs), as is the show's star, the late Tony-nominated actor Tim Pigott-Smith. The TV film is nominated for Best Single Drama and Pigott-Smith for Leading Actor.

The production of Mike Bartlett鈥檚 King Charles III, in which Pigott-Smith played the titular monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, premiered at the Almeida Theatre in April 2014 before transferring to the West End鈥檚 Wyndham鈥檚 Theatre and, subsequently, the Music Box Theatre on Broadway. In addition to a Tony nomination, he received an Olivier nod for his performance. He reprised the role for the BBC2 adaptation before his death in April last year.

Vanessa Kirby, who is tapped to , a take on Strindberg鈥檚 Miss Julie from Polly Stenham, is also nominated for a Best Supporting Actress BAFTA for her portrayal of Princess Margaret in The Crown. The acclaimed series is nominated for Best Drama Series, and the show's star, Claire Foy, is nominated for Best Leading Actress. Foy performed in Mike Bartlett's Love Love Love at London's Royal Court in 2012.

Anna Friel, who starred as Alice in the Broadway production of Closer, is also nominated for Best Leading Actress for her starring role in the BBC's Broken.
