Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, the 16-week engagement will officially open April 27. The new play picks up after Henrik Ibsen鈥檚 A Doll鈥檚 House concludes.
The starry cast will include three-time Emmy Award winner and three-time Tony Award nominee Laurie Metcalf, Academy Award winner Chris Cooper, Tony Award winner Jayne Houdyshell and two-time Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad.
鈥淚n the final scene of Ibsen's 1879 ground-breaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own,鈥� according to press notes. 鈥淭his climactic event 鈥� when Nora slams the door on everything in her life 鈥� instantly propelled world drama into the modern age. In A Doll鈥檚 House, Part 2, many years have passed since Nora鈥檚 exit. Now, there鈥檚 a knock on that same door. Nora has returned. But why? And what will it mean for those she left behind?鈥�
The design team includes Evening Standard Award winner Miriam Buether (scenic design) and Tony Award winner David Zinn (costume design).
Hnath鈥檚 plays include Hillary and Clinton, Red Speedo, The Christians, A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney, Isaac鈥檚 Eye and Death Tax.
