News Lea Salonga, George Takei, Telly Leung Set for Allegiance CD Event Lea Salonga, George Takei, Telly Leung and Katie Rose Clarke will appear at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble Feb. 5 to celebrate the original cast recording of their new musical Allegiance, which preserves the Jay Kuo score.

The performance and CD signing will begin at 3 PM. Barnes & Noble is located at 150 E. 86th St. For more information call (212) 369-2180. (Cast members will only sign copies of the Allegiance cast recording.)

The recording is produced by Lynne Shankel and Joel Moss for Sing Out, Louise! Productions.

The new American musical Allegiance, inspired by the life of veteran actor George Takei, officially opened on Broadway Nov. 8, 2015, following previews that began Oct. 6 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre. As previously reported, the production will play its final performance on Broadway Feb. 14.

The musical, which is billed as the "vibrant and unforgettable story of one family's resilience in the face of seemingly-insurmountable odds," marks the return of Broadway favorite Lea Salonga, a Tony and Olivier winner for her work in . The production also boasts the Main Stem debut of "Star Trek" icon Takei, whose life inspired the new musical. The cast also features Broadway and "Glee" star Telly Leung.

Allegiance has a book by , Jay Kuo and with music and lyrics by Kuo. Olivier Award nominee directs in his Broadway debut. serves as choreographer.

Allegiance, according to press notes, "illuminates one of American history鈥檚 lesser known chapters as it tells the story of Sam Kimura (Takei), transported back nearly six decades to when his younger self (Leung) and his sister Kei (Salonga) fought to stay connected to their heritage, their family, and themselves after Japanese Americans were wrongfully imprisoned during World War II. An epic story told with great intimacy, Allegiance explores the ties that bind us, the struggle to persevere, and the overwhelming power of forgiveness and, most especially, love."

Lynn Shankel is musical supervisor and also provides arrangements and orchestrations. serves as musical director. Scenic design is by Tony Award winner with costume design by Tony Award nominee , lighting design by Tony Award winner , sound design by Tony Award nominee and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe. Projection design is by Darrel Maloney. Casting is by Telsey + Company/, C.S.A.

Allegiance had its world premiere in a record-breaking engagement at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in 2012. It is produced by Sing Out, Louise! Productions and ATA.
