The company is trying to 鈥渞ecoup expenses鈥� from the gala, which was canceled by Bremer Trust鈥攚hich oversees the estate鈥攆ollowing Prince's April 21 death.
Artistic director Jack Reuler told the Star Tribune, 鈥淭his was the biggest thing we鈥檇 ever planned, and a great number of people had spent a year planning it, 鈥� adding that the president of the trust had assured the theatre company 鈥渢hat we would be made whole.鈥�
鈥淓ver since May, we鈥檝e been dealing with Bremer Trust. We went to mediation with a judge,鈥� Reuler continued. 鈥淲e didn鈥檛 come to a number that both sides agreed to, so the process continues 鈥� and we will come to a natural conclusion.鈥�
The figure in the claim is based on similar fundraisers undertaken by other organizations as well as tickets that were refunded and items collected for various parts of the evening, including live and silent auctions.
