News New Musical Reuniting the Minds Behind Guys and Dolls Will Premiere in California The world premiere of Another Roll of the Dice, featuring a book by seven-time Emmy winner Mark Saltzman ("Sesame Street") and the songs of Frank Loesser, is part of Colony Theatre's 2015-16 season in California.

Based on stories by (whose short stories inspired ), and featuring songs by Loesser (who won the 1951 Tony Award for the score of Guys and Dolls), Another Roll of the Dice will run April 16-May 15, 2016, under the direction of Michael Matthews.

Saltzman told 半岛体育.com, "We imagined Guys and Dolls as a pastrami dinner at Mindy's Restaurant and Another Roll of the Dice as a slice of cheesecake for dessert. Or maybe strudel.

"I went for a multi-story structure for the show, in the manner of Plaza Suite or The Apple Tree. The ongoing setting is Mindy's Restaurant, where Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson made their plot-launching wager and the stories involve a stable of characters from Runyon's works 鈥 among them gangster Nubbsy Taylor, fan girl Baseball Hattie, lovesick Tobias the Terrible, and nightlife empress Missouri Martin."

He added that the lyrics of the songs are all by Loesser with music by Loesser and his collaborators. Included are standards such as "Heart and Soul," "Two Sleepy People" and "I Wish I Didn't Love You So" as well as lesser-known Loesser, including a song cut from Guys and Dolls just before opening entitled "Travelin' Light."

Burbank's Colony Theater has also produced Saltzman's Clutter: The True Story of the Collyer Brothers Who Never Threw Anything Out and Falling for Make Believe. Also among Colony's 2015-16 season are the West Coast premiere鈥 of The Fabulous Lipitones, written by John Markus and and directed by Markus (July 25-Aug. 23, 2015); the world premiere of John Philip Dayton's Mary Lincoln, a show about Mary Todd Lincoln starring under the direction of Cameron Watson (Sept. 19-Oct. 18, 2015); the California premiere of鈥 Humble Boy, written by and directed by David Rose (Nov. 7-Dec. 13, 2015); and the West Coast premiere鈥 of Mark St. Germain's The Best of Enemies, directed by David Rose.
