To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Broadway debut of Disney's Newsies the Musical, cast members from the Broadway and touring productions will take to the stage of Feinstein's/54 Below March 28-29 for concerts at 7 PM and 9:45 PM both nights. The performances will benefit Covenant House.
Produced by Aaron Albano and Shoshana Feinstein, attendees can expect to hear music from the musical based on the Disney film as well as songs cut from the production. Steven Malone is the music director.

Based on the Disney film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White, Newsies the Musical was originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions. Opening night was March 29, 2012, at the Nederlander.
Newsies was inspired by the real-life 鈥淣ewsboy Strike of 1899,鈥� when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst, and other powerful New York newspaper publishers.
The stage version introduced seven new songs by the original team of Alan Menken and Jack Feldman鈥攊ncluding a song written after the Broadway premiere specifically for the tour, 鈥淟etter from the Refuge鈥濃攚hile keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including 鈥淐arrying the Banner,鈥� 鈥淪eize the Day,鈥� 鈥淜ing of New York,鈥� and 鈥淪anta Fe.鈥�
The musical took home Tony Awards in 2012 for Best Choreography (Christopher Gattelli) and Best Original Score (Menken and Feldman) and was nominated for Best Actor (Jordan), Best Book (Harvey Fierstein), Best Direction (Jeff Calhoun), Best Orchestrations (Daniel Troob), Best Scenic Design (Tobin Ost and Sven Ortel), and Best Musical.
