The musical, which features book and lyrics by and music by , will begin performances Nov. 15 prior to an official opening Nov. 20. It will continue through Dec. 27 the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the San Diego.
Directed by James V谩squez, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will feature (, ) making his Old Globe debut as The Grinch, Taylor Coleman (Annie, Jr.) and Gabriella Dimmick (The Sound of Music) alternating as Cindy-Lou Who, Steve Gunderson (Forever Plaid, Back to Bacharach) as Old Max and (, ) as Young Max.
The cast also inclucdes Robert J. Townsend as Papa Who, Bets Malone as Mama Who, Geno Carr as Grandpa Who, Nancy Snow Carr as Grandma Who, Katelyn Katz and Alexis Rae Tenney as Annie Who, Brooke Henderson and Mikaela Celeste Villalpando as Betty-Lou Who, Noah Baird and Elliot Weaver as Boo Who and Jordi Bertran and Imahni King-Murillo as Danny Who.
Luke Babbitt, Josh Bradford, Nathan Conlan, Sophia Dimmick, Savannah Rae Farmer, David Kirk Grant, Kyrsten Hafso-Koppman, Jacob Haren, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Hourie Klijian, Cady Mariano, Dylan Nalbandian, Nathan Andrew Riley, Lexy Sakrekoff, and Kelsey Venter comprise the ensemble. James V谩squez is the swing.
"Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based upon the classic Dr. Seuss book," press notes state. "Back for its 17th incredible year, the family favorite features the songs 'Santa for a Day,' 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,' and 'Welcome, Christmas (Fah Who Doraze),' the delightful carol from the popular animated version of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!' Celebrate the holidays as the Old Globe Theatre is once again transformed into the snow-covered Whoville, right down to the last can of Who-hash." This season's production will feature musical direction by Elan McMahan, additional choreography by and restaged choreography by James V谩squez. The Grinch creative team also includes (scenic design), Robert Morgan (costume design), (lighting design), Paul Peterson (sound design), Anita Ruth (orchestrator), (vocal arrangements and incidental music) and (dance music arranger). Casting is by Caparelliotis Casting, and Leila Knox is stage manager.
