The London productions of Wolf Hall and its sequel Bring Up the Bodies, based on the Hilary Mantel history novels about the bloody reign of Henry VIII, officially opened on Broadway April 9 at the Winter Garden Theatre. , , Playful Productions U.K.鈥檚 Matthew Byam Shaw, Nia Janis & Nick Salmon, and produce the Broadway run of the theatrical event, which theatregoers have the option to see in a single day (including a dinner break) or on separate days.
Original London stars (Thomas Cromwell), (Anne Boleyn) and (King Henry VIII) repeat their performances in the Broadway production alongside fellow RSC members.
The plays premiered at Stratford-upon-Avon's Swan Theatre in January 2014 and transferred to the West End's Aldwych last May. The two plays tell the compelling story of Thomas Cromwell鈥檚 rise from blacksmith鈥檚 boy to Henry VIII鈥檚 chief fixer and deliverer of the King鈥檚 chosen bedfellows.
The production features scenic and costume design by , lighting design by (Part 1) and David Plater (Part 2), sound design by Nick Powell, music by Stephen Warbeck and movement by Si芒n Williams.
