News Photo Call: First Look at Bryce Ryness as Miss Trunchbull and More Stars of the Matilda Tour Bryce Ryness (Hair) stars as Miss Trunchbull in the national tour of Matilda The Musical, which officially opened June 7 after beginning previews May 29 in Los Angeles. Young actresses Gabby Gutierrez, Mia Sinclair Jenness and Mabel Tyler share the title role.

Gutierrez, Jenness, Tyler and Ryness are joined by fellow principal cast members (Miss Honey), Quinn Mattfeld (Mr. Wormwood) and (Mrs. Wormwood).

The ensemble includes Cal Alexander, Kayla Amistad, Cameron Burke, Brittany Conigatti, , Wesley Faucher, , Camden Gonzales, , Evan Gray, Cassidy Hagel, Meliki Hurd, , , , Megan McGuff, Ora Jones, Justin Packard, Serena Quadrato, Aristotle Rock, , Ian Michael Stuart, Danny Tieger, , and Darius Wright.

Based on 's beloved children's book about a precocious bookworm with magical powers, the elaborate stage production first played a technical preview run at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, CT (May 16-23), prior to an official launch in L.A.

Matilda premiered at 's Courtyard Theatre in November 2010 and later transferred to the West End's Cambridge Theatre, where it continues to run. The and The Dodgers present the Broadway run, which opened on Broadway April 11, 2013, at the Shubert Theatre after previews that began March 4.

Tony Award-winning director (God of Carnage, The Norman Conquests, Boeing-Boeing, La B锚te, Ghost) staged the inventive, kid-packed musical that has a book by and a score by .

Matilda received four Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical, Best Featured Actor (), Best Lighting Design and Best Scenic Design.

According to producers, Matilda "is the story of an extraordinary little girl who decides that despite a bad beginning filled with rotten parents, a terrifying school and a vicious head mistress, her story is going to be an astonishing one. With the help of her teacher, her friends and a little bit of imagination, Matilda proves that even if you're little, you can do big things."

The production has set and costume design by Rob Howell, with choreography by , orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting design by and sound design by Simon Baker.
