Plenty, The Wolves, Marie and Rosetta, Spamilton, Maestro, A Taste of Honey and All the Ways to Say I Love You are among the Off-Broadway shows that will now play beyond their originally scheduled engagements.
Ahead of its first preview October 4, the Public Theater announced this week that Plenty will now run an additional two weeks through November 20 with an official press opening October 20. The first major New York revival of David Hare鈥檚 acclaimed drama will be directed by David Leveaux and will star Oscar winner Rachel Weisz.
Also downtown, MCC Theater recently announced a one-week extension for the world premiere of All the Ways to Say I Love You, Neil LaBute鈥檚 solo play starring Tony winner Judith Light. The one-woman tour de force, directed by Leigh Silverman, will officially open September 28 and will now run through October 9.
After garnering rave reviews, Sara DeLappe鈥檚 first play, The Wolves, will now play through September 29 at the Playwrights Realm. Directed by Lila Neugebauer, the fast-paced story of an all-girls soccer team began performances August 29 and officially opened September 8.
George Brant鈥檚 new play with music, Marie and Rosetta, is another Off-Broadway production to receive positive reviews from critics. The show, which officially opened September 14 starring Kecia Lewis and Rebecca Naomi Jones at the Atlantic Theater Company, will now play through October 16. Previews began August 24, with direction by Neil Pepe.
Due to ticket demand, Hershey Felder as Leonard Bernstein in Maestro will extend its run for one week at 59E59 Theaters, now playing through October 23; the Pearl Theater Company has extended its revival of Shelagh Delaney鈥檚 A Taste of Honey through October 30; and Spamilton, Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini's parody of the Broadway smash hit Hamilton, is now selling through December 31鈥攖he show opened September 8 and was originally scheduled as an 18-performance engagement only.
