News Pope's Visit to Philadelphia Creates Logistical Snare for Local Theatres As Philadelphia prepares for the The World Meeting of Families and the highly anticipated papal visit, the city's theatres have had to make changes to their regular show dates. The Pope's visit is scheduled for Sept. 22-27.

The Arden Theatre Company has announced that they will delay their 2015-16 season by one week, as the visit coincides with previews for their new season opener, Metamorphoses. This will also push back the second show of the season, 's Equivocation. "Our opening show, Metamorphoses, promises to be an extraordinary and visually stunning production," commented Arden managing director Amy L. Murphy in a press statement. "60 percent of the Arden鈥檚 ticket buyers live outside of Center City. We would hate for audience members to miss the show or face difficulties getting to and from the theatre during the week of the Pope鈥檚 visit." For more information on the season ahead visit .

The Walnut Street Theatre has also rescheduled all performances that were previously scheduled during the Pope's visit. That includes the mainstage production of High Society as well as Shrek The Musical, Jr.. For more information on the updated calendar visit .
