All three awards will be presented at the Academy鈥檚 7th Annual Governors Awards Nov. 14 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.

The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given 鈥渢o honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.鈥� The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, also an Oscar statuette, is given 鈥渢o an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.鈥�
Lee's features include 鈥淪he鈥檚 Gotta Have It,鈥� 鈥淪chool Daze鈥� and 鈥淒o the Right Thing,鈥� which earned him a 1989 Oscar nomination for Original Screenplay. His work as a director ranges from the Oscar-nominated documentary feature 鈥�4 Little Girls鈥� to such mainstream successes as 鈥淢alcolm X鈥� and 鈥淚nside Man.鈥� On Broadway Lee produced and directed .
Rowlands received Academy Award nominations for her lead performances in 鈥淎 Woman under the Influence鈥� (1974) and 鈥淕loria鈥� (1980), both directed by her husband and frequent collaborator, John Cassavetes. She got her start on the New York stage and in live television in the 1950s and has appeared in 40 feature films to date. The actress appeared on Broadway in in 1956. Reynolds, a Hollywood icon since she won hearts in 鈥淪ingin鈥� in the Rain,鈥� has appeared in more than 40 feature films, including 鈥淭he Tender Trap,鈥� 鈥淎 Catered Affair鈥� and 鈥淢other,鈥� and received a 1964 Oscar nomination for her lead performance in 鈥淭he Unsinkable Molly Brown.鈥� Reynolds received a Tony nomination for her work in the musical ; she also was a replacement in .
