News Rock Musical The 12, Co-Written by All The Way Tony Winner, Opens Tonight The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is presenting the world premiere of the new rock musical The 12, which features book and lyrics by Tony Award winner Robert Schenkkan (All The Way) and music and lyrics by Neil Berg (Grumpy Old Men). The limited engagement officially opens April 3 following previews that began March 27.

The 12, according to press notes, "follows the disciples as they face the ultimate test of faith in the wake of their leader鈥檚 unthinkable death."

Directed by Richard Seyd with choreography by , performances run through April 26 in the Stage Theatre.

The cast consists of (John), Mike Backes (Swing), (Mother Mary), Anthony Fedorov (Andrew), (Jimmy), (Pete), Jordan Leigh (Matt), Andrew Mayer (Bart), (Mary Magdalene), Maximilian Sangerman (Thad), Heath Saunders (Swing), Jordan Barbour (James), Brad Standley (Phil), (Simon), (Tom) and Erin Willis (Swing).

鈥淭he score of The 12, while totally original, is my open love letter to many of the great genres in the history of classic rock 'n' roll, and can only be tackled by powerful, authentic voices,鈥� said composer Berg in an earlier statement. 鈥淲e are thrilled with the cast and creative team we have assembled and cannot wait to bring this unique musical to Denver.鈥�

The creative team also includes music director Michael Mancini, music supervisor , scenic designer John Iacovelli, costume designer Denitsa Bliznakova, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu and sound designer Zach Williamson.
