"I Do! I Do! was conceived as a valentine to the joys and frustrations and ultimate deep rewards of a long and lasting marriage, no matter their sexual orientation," lyricist Jones said in a press statement. "This being so, I am especially pleased that this celebration of the show's songs at 54 Below will be performed on Valentine's Day and by a cast of married couples, for the first time both gay and straight. A bit early perhaps, but I am already lifting my glass in a toast."
Broadway Couples Sing I Do! I Do! will be presented at 7 PM and 9:30 PM, featuring showbiz couples and ; and and , among others. The one-night-only concert is directed by Robert W. Schneider, with musical direction by Joshua Zecher-Ross. The evening will be hosted by Jones (The Fantasticks).
