Casting is complete for the Donmar Warehouse's U.K. premiere of Dominique Morisseau鈥檚 Skeleton Crew, the final production in Michael Longhurst鈥檚 tenure as artistic director.
Olivier winner Matthew Xia will direct the production, which begins previews June 28 prior to an official opening July 4 with performances currently scheduled through August 24.
The cast will feature Tobi Bamtefa as Reggie, Branden Cook as Dez, Pamela Nomvete as Faye, and Racheal Ofori as Shanita.
Skeleton Crew is set in 2008 Detroit at one of the city鈥檚 last surviving car factories, which is threatened with closure. A tight-knit group of workers is torn between loyalty to each other and their own self-interest.
The upcoming production will also have designs by ULTZ, lighting design by Ciar谩n Cunningham, composition and sound design by Nicola T. Chang, movement direction by Ingrid Mackinnon, voice and dialect coaching by Aundrea Fudge, and casting by Anna Cooper.
For its 2022 Broadway run, Morisseau鈥檚 2016 play was nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Play. Phylicia Rashad won the Tony for her performance as Faye.
Morisseau is the author of The Detroit Project, a three-play cycle that includes Skeleton Crew (Atlantic Theater Company), Paradise Blue (Signature Theatre), and Detroit 鈥�67 (Public Theater, Classical Theatre of Harlem and NBT) as well as Pipeline (Lincoln Center Theater), Sunset Baby (LAByrinth Theatre), Blood at the Root (National Black Theatre), and Follow Me to Nellie鈥檚 (Premiere Stages). She is also the Tony-nominated book writer of Ain鈥檛 Too Proud 鈥� The Life and Times of the Temptations.
