Broadway News Spamalot Announces Broadway Closing Date

The Monty Python comedy revival began performances at the St. James Theatre last October.

The Broadway revival of Monty Python's Spamalot has announced its final performance is set for April 7, 2024. The production will have played 17 previews and 164 regular performances at the time of closing. But always look on the bright side of life鈥攁 national tour is set to launch in fall 2025.

Spamalot opened November 16, 2023 at the St. James Theatre, after beginning performances October 31. Read the reviews here. The show transferred to Broadway after a previous run at the Kennedy Center.

The production stars Tony winner (Aladdin, Hamilton) as King Arthur, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer (Beetlejuice) as The Lady of the Lake, Tony nominee (Waitress) as Patsy, Tony nominee (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) as The Historian/Prince Herbert, (Beetlejuice) as Lancelot, (Billy Elliot) as Sir Bedevere, as Sir Robin, and (Hamilton) as Sir Galahad. 

Based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical follows King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table on their quest for the Holy Grail, complete with coconut-shell horse hooves, a run-in with the Knights Who Say "Ni!," and more.

The musical, which took home the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005, features a book by and a score by Idle and . directs and choreographs the revival after staging the production's premiere at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., earlier in 2023.

The production features scenic and projection design by Paul Tate dePoo III, costume design by Jen Caprio, lighting design by , sound design by and , wig design by , and music direction by . Casting is by . serves as the production stage manager, and serves as general manager.
